POLICE have charged the alleged machete-wielding robber accused of traumatising staff in a violent cash grab at an Upper Beaconsfield supermarket.
The 30-year-old man is expected to soon front court on four additional robbery charges.
Police earlier alleged a man concealed in a hoodie stormed into the Foodworks supermarket, brandishing an edged weapon thought to be a machete just after 6pm on Saturday 12 March.
He demanded cash from two male workers before taking off in a false-plated getaway car.
Embona Taskforce Detective Sergeant Ivan Bobetic said workers were verbally threatened by the man, alleged to have repeatedly banged the weapon on the counter top as cash demands were made.
Both victims were left traumatised by the raid.
The accused was also charged with four other robberies.
He has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 21 June.
