Buyers in holiday mode

Picture: PUBLIC DOMAIN

DUE to the preceding public holiday and mountain calf sales, numbers were right back with only 175 cows and 16 bulls yarded at the Victorian Livestock Exchange last week.
All the regular buyers were present but not all were active, with quality overall being plain. Prices fluctuated over the cow draft with trends difficult to quantify due to the low numbers presented, varying from seven cents cheaper to nine cents/kg dearer.
Medium weight D1 cows remained firm to marginally dearer, ranging from 172c to 204c/kg. Medium and heavy weight D3 cows were firm to five cents dearer, making from 220c to 247c to average 239c/kg. The small penning of plain quality bulls saw C3 lots ease 13c, ranging from 266c to 286c/kg to processors.
The VLE Draw for the week commencing Monday 21 March is as follows:
1, Rodwells; 2, Elders; 3, S.E.J.; 4, Landmark; 5, Everitt, Seeley and Bennetts; 6, Alex Scott and Staff; 7, Nathan Gibbon Livestock.
The next store sale is Thursday 24 March, commencing at 10am.
There will be no sale on Monday 28 March due to Easter Monday Public Holiday.
