POLICE are investigating a spate of theft from cars in Pakenham.
Overnight on Friday 30 October, police received five car theft reports from unlocked vehicles parked in a close cluster of residential streets in Pakenham.
Two cars parked at Spinebill Court were targeted along with at least another two in Bavaria Lane between 9pm on Friday 30 October and 6am on Saturday 31 October.
Police also received a complaint of a fifth theft from a car parked in Pipit Close in Pakenham.
Investigators are working on the theory that the incidents were likely to have been committed by the same offender.
Police are also piecing together information from what appears to be a separate string of similar thefts from cars parked in Pakenham a day earlier.
Four cars, some parked in the same street, were ransacked by offenders between 4pm on Thursday 29 October and 8am on Friday 30 October.
Two unlocked cars in Edgeware Close in Pakenham were rummaged through by offenders believed to have links to a series of similar thefts from cars parked in Heartland Circuit and Illawarra Way.
Police caution drivers to keep their cars locked at all times and remove any valuables from sight to avoid falling victim to opportunistic thieves.
