PEOPLE of all ages and skills joined together for the opening of an all-abilities park in Kooweerup.
The $100,000 all-abilities playground located at Cochrane Park was officially opened on Friday 19 June.
It includes a rotating carousal suitable for up to four wheelchairs, a cantilever basket swing, rubber soft-fall area and bongo drums.
Accessibility improvements were also made to the nearby skate park, existing playground structure and surrounding pathways, according to Cardinia Shire Mayor Leticia Wilmot who opened the playground.
“The opening event really highlighted how playgrounds and facilities like this can bring people together of all ages and all abilities,” Cr Wilmot said.
“It has been fantastic to see these additional areas opened up for greater accessibility, which will allow everyone to play together in a safe and fun environment. I am looking forward to seeing how much enjoyment it brings in years to come,” she said.
