Back on the rails

SO THE problems with the railway system continue.
A few days ago a friend came to Tooradin from Warrnambool on the midday train – fine, except he could not book a seat the day before but had to take his chance in the unbookable last (second-class) car. So he did and had an uncomfortable trip to Spencer Street, for it was crowded before it left Warrnambool and became more so as the journey progressed.
It is obvious that more cars are needed – at least a second first-class car and two bookable second-class cars.
A fourth service to and from Warrnambool would also help.
Then there is the matter of forcing folk on to the Metro system at Sunbury and Pakenham.
Here again we need more trains and two-class trains for such long journeys.
And, as the tracks are to go underground between Caulfield and Dandenong, I reckon they should double them to four tracks and separate the metro tracks from the country tracks and add another two between Caulfield and the city.
