Winter solstice is coming

As Garfield Golf Club quickly approaches the winter solstice, golfers are faced with icy cold conditions particularly those that choose to tee off at daylight or early in the morning which, on a Saturday, is the majority of the field.
Fairways are now damp and balls are affected by mud.
Preferred lies are now available on the fairway only, as long as players are good enough to hit them.
On Saturday some 46 pairs of players contested a two-person ambrose event with some great scores coming in.

Paul Kaye backed up his big monthly medal performance from last week by teaming up with Dan ‘Ned’ Kelly to be next best with 62 1/4.
Mick Neylan is back in a big way after recovering from his dramatic injury enforced lay off.
On his return to the track on Thursday Mick shot 38 points to just miss out on the chocolates while on Saturday Mick teamed up with Gus McKillop to shoot 62 1/2 and finish in fourth position.
Great to see Ray Johnson back in the winners list as he shot 39 points on Thursday to break a very long run of outs.
Greg Sanders shot 38 points to continue his great recent form after winning last Thursday.
Next week sees players commence the 2015 Cox Cup with the second round played the week after.
John Blair is the defending champion.
All ladies are reminded that the 2015 Club Championships are to commence on Tuesday 16 June and is played over three consecutive Tuesdays.
