THE Pakenham Uniting Church is hosting its first trivia night to help raise funds to continue its refurbishment.
The church has been operating for more than 100 years and has recently been painted and had new carpet laid.
Secretary of the church council, Olive Elston said the funds raised at the trivia night will replace the financial reserve spent on the current refurbishment.
“We want to replace some of the pews that are really big and bulky and have been recovering the chairs with a beige vinyl to match the new carpet,” Ms Elston said.
The 90 strong congregation cleaned out its cupboards and held a stall at the Pakenham Community Market to help with the refurbishment effort.
“We still need further painting to be done, so far we have spent around $15,000 in renovations,” Ms Elston said.
The church is hoping to sell more than 100 tickets at $15 each.
“We are hoping to raise as much as possible,” Ms Elston said.
The night will be held at the Pakenham Uniting Church on Saturday 14 March from 7.30pm.
The night will host tables of eight with auctions and raffles up for grabs.
“We’ve got about six tables sold already and are happy to make up tables on the night,” Ms Elston said.
Tickets for the trivia night can be purchased through by calling Marie Harding on 5942 7326 or Olive Elston on 5941 1687.
