Children deprived by thieves

A DOZEN computers were taken from a Pakenham school only days prior to classes resuming.
The Pakenham Primary School’s computer room was broken into, the thieves taking 12 computers from the classroom.
The brazen theft took place in broad daylight at 11am on Tuesday 27 January.
Police estimate the cost of the computers to be at $6500.

A MAN has been charged with trafficking drugs from his Pakenham home.
Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly trafficking cannabis as well as possessing ecstasy tablets.
Cardinia’s Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) cited seizing around 500 grams worth of marijuana and approximately 25 MDMA pills during the arrest on the evening on Friday 30 January.
The man has been charged and bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates Court on Friday 24 April.

POLICE are investigating three suspicious fires that broke out in Pakenham within several hours of each other last week.
The first fire broke out in the late hours of Australia Day at 11pm when the contents of a shopping trolley were set alight and dumped on the corner of Flower Street and Roger Street.
A few hours later into the early hours of the next morning, a second fire was set to an old couch that was left in the middle of Solid Drive at about 2.40am. A bag of rubbish was also set alight at Pakenham Secondary College’s basketball courts 30 minutes later at 3.10am.
Police believe the incidents are related and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A CAR was purported stolen from the owner’s Beaconsfield house over the weekend.
On Saturday 31 January between 8.45am and 5pm, a Wood Street resident’s White 1993 Nissan Pulsar was taken from his home. It is unclear whether the vehicle was locked.

TWO grassfires that broke out in Pakenham over the weekend are being treated as suspicious.
At around 9.30pm on Saturday 31 January, two grass fires were lit in Moore Mews and in another nearby street.
“It is deemed as being suspicious,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Duane McDonald.
The fires were extinguished by the CFA and there were no reports of property damage.

SOME 30 speeding offences were handed out in the Cardinia Shire over the Australia Day weekend as part of the four-day Operation Amity, which concluded last Monday night. The operation also netted eight unregistered vehicles, five seatbelt offences, four drunk drivers, three disqualified/suspended drivers, and two mobile phone offences and drivers disobeying signs or signals.
