Adage wisdom eludes Age

THE Age dipped a wary toe outside of the inner city to cover the suspicious death of Bayles man Raymond Parker.
With police releasing CCTV images of one of two men wanted for questioning in relation to the death, it was a big chance for the media to use its considerable access to the public to assist with the investigation.
The Age seemed to forget, however, that unless it printed the photos, its readers might struggle to identify the men and dob them into Crime Stoppers.
In their wisdom, the paper’s many editors decided that a word is worth a thousand pictures and decided to publish a text only version of the story, using the nearest space for a predictable photo of an ’Invasion Day’ protester. Just in case you mistakenly picked-up The Age instead of the Gazette last week, here’s another look at the gentleman that the Homicide Squad would like to have a quiet chat to.
Anyone who recognises the man or van – or knows anything about Mr Parker’s death – can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
