THE latest power outage in Pakenham appears to have blown residents’ last fuse, which has one handyman offering up solutions.
Around 12,000 homes and businesses were without power between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday 26 November due to a fault at the Pakenham substation, a spokesperson from AusNet said.
Residents were less than impressed with the electricity provider as the incident marked their third major outage for the week.
“Lost power again – that’s three times in two days. What’s going on with the power?” Melissa said on the Gazette’s Facebook page.
Paul Puser who owns the area’s only back-up generator business said there are ways residents can avoid the pain and inconvenience of power outages.
“Being the only main supplier in the local area, I would like to inform people that backup power does exist,” owner of GAP Generators in Pakenham said.
“People can continue their daily activities without disruption during power outages like we experienced last week and continue to power medical equipment such as a respirator that requires continuous power.”
“Pakenham is a growth area and also has a poor to average supply of electricity, hence the many blackouts. GAP Generators can offer generators or solar power for emergencies, blackouts or general use.”
AusNet said they launched an immediate investigation into the outage caused to the Pakenham supply.
