Come cruisin’ for the kids

Cars cruise down the Princes Freeway at Pakenham.

EVERYBODY loves a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive, but a mass cruise departing from Officer this weekend will have a much higher purpose. Wild Violet Wedding Cars will host its third Annual Charity Classic Car Cruise this Sunday, with the cruise open to all pre-1985 vehicles. With an entry of just just $5, all funds raised will go to The Kids Cancer Project, which funds research programs dedicated to finding cures for childhood cancers. Drivers will meet at 10am at the outbound BP service station in Officer, with the cruise to depart at 11am and head to the Stockyard Bar and Bistro in Rawson. Event organiser Jackie Davey said the cruise was happy to help children in need. “Many families have had a grandparent, parent, uncle or aunty affected by cancer, however having a child fighting cancer is unimaginable, especially being parents ourselves,” she said. “We cannot begin to imagine what these families go through, so we would love to raise as much money as we can.” You can donate at https://charityfundraiser.everydayhero.com/au/wild-violet-wedding-cars-annual-charity-cruise
