PAKENHAM junior footballers Brody Pintar and Ryan Emerson got a taste of senior football on Saturday when they were welcomed into the Pakenham Football Club rooms for the pre-game warm up.
Brody, from the under 15s, and Ryan, under 10s, are both profoundly deaf, but that hasn’t stopped them from being valuable contributors to the junior Lions club over the years.
Brody has been a fantastic player for the club, finishing top-10 in the league best and fairest four years in a row, while Ryan has gained his love of football through attending Richmond games in the AFL.
Ryan’s parents, Jane and Paul, are also profoundly deaf and recently learnt more about the game when Deaf Children Australia interpreter Neil Ray attended one of Ryan’s games and helped communicate the coach’s message at the breaks between quarters.
