LOCAL artists, their friends and members of the community celebrated the opening of the new Provenance Artists Cardinia studio in Pakenham on the weekend.
The studio, on 24 Short Lane, features Painting for Pleasure workshops, a scratchboard demonstration, workshops by award-winning artists Carol Gorenko, real-life drawing and painting. It was officially opened by Cr Kate Lempriere, Cardinia Mayor Graeme Moore, Gembrook MP Brad Battin and four-year old Jake Eckersall, who Cr Lempriere said represented the “next generation of artists.”
The group holds two major art shows each year – The Grand Art Exhibition at the Cardinia Cultural Centre and the Great Art Show at Nossal High School, Monash University Campus Berwick.
Led by new art director, artist and tutor Leanne Hutchinson, Provenance Artists Cardinia will be the main organisers for the Cardinia Grand Art Exhibition, which this year was named as one of the top five art shows in the state. It has 777 entries and is also the first show to have interstate and international artists. The show will have dedicated sections for contemporary art, scratchboard, art of Cardinia and creative wood art.
