We need to talk about Kevin

Three Days to Kill (M)
Starring: Kevin Costner, Amber Heard

Watching this turkey, it’s hard to believe Kevin Costner was once the biggest movie star in the world.
Not Tom Cruise, not Harrison Ford.
But nowadays Costner’s star wattage can’t even outshine Kevin Bacon.
This muddled effort has him as a CIA operative who has been told he’s about to die.
Enter fellow shadowy government spook, the sultry Amber Heard who has the cure… at a price.
Bored yet? But wait, there’s more.
This overlong diatribe then wanders into Costner’s dramas with his ex-wife and, more centrally, his largely estranged daughter.
So we have the action sequences of a government killer juxtaposed with a family man’s unedifying mid-life crisis as he tries to win his daughter’s heart.
The result is a film in the midst of a profound identity crisis about what kind of movie it’s trying to be – with disparate elements that create a totally unsatisfying whole.
Walk-out bad. Avoid at all costs.
