IF THE Casey Relay for Life wasn’t already successful enough, a further $2257 was raised last Wednesday during a fashion filled night.
Casey Relay for Life’s Zumba team and Berwick retailers worked to delight 132 guests at Akoonah Park last week to raise more funds for the Cancer Council.
Berwick traders and their models kicked off the night with stores such as Wild Urban ladies fashion and giftware, Kloud Nine Lingerie, Gilda’s ladies fashion, Harry’s Menswear and plenty more all modelling their autumn/winter range.
While displaying the fashion customers could expect to see as the cooler months approach, every business had one motive in mind on the night – to raise further much needed funds for a worthy cause.
Organica voluntarily provided make-up artistry on the night and spray tans were provided by Tanina at Total Body Bliss.
A raffle with a major prize of a $220 voucher donated by Rose and Suzie of Autumn Rose also went off on the night.
Event organiser Maureen Timms, the Zumba team leader at Casey Relay for Life, said the event was a great success.
“The event has been more successful than we could have hoped in its inaugural year and we hope to make this an annual event until researchers can find a cure,” she said.
The $2257 raised on the night brings the total raised by the Casey Relay for Life to well over $300,000 this year, with a special contribution from Casey resident Luke Cousins who gave an outstanding donation of $1000 that he received for shaving his head.
All retailers and salons who participated in the event can be found in the Berwick Main Street, Blackburn Square, Glouscester Avenue, Loveridge Walk and Adams Lane.
