On the fly

FLY BALLING is back at this year’s Pakenham Show.
Demonstrations by the Berwick Obedience Dog Club will be held throughout the day on 20 March.
Fly balling began in the 1970s in North America and involves teams of four dogs who need to complete a course which includes hurdles and tennis balls.
The sport is described as a relay for dogs where the winner will be decided according to best time and reliability.
Nicole Kendt from the club will be entering her beloved yellow Labrador, Jade into the competition who is currently one of the fastest dogs in Victoria.
Ms Kendt has so far gotten 15 dogs of varying breeds including Poodles, Labradors, Border Collies and Kelpies, from the club to complete the demonstration.
Last year was the first year the club had demonstrated fly balling at the Pakenham Show and Ms Kendt said “it was lovely, we really enjoyed it, it was great”.
