Four teams make it through to the finals

AFTER a home-and-away season, the business end of finals looms for four teams at Upper Beaconsfield Cricket Club.
In the District clash between Upper Beaconsfield and Merinda Park at Stoney Creek reserve, the storm on Saturday curtailed the game at an interesting point.
After a steady start Merinda Park was 1/128 chasing 241 but Maroons’ Scott Pitcher struck back with two quick wickets and the match was evenly poised when tea was called.
The Cobras was fighting to re-establish at 3/136 with 44 overs bowled after Upper Beaconsfield had been 3/132 at the same point the week before.
This Saturday the old rivalry between Upper Beaconsfield and Emerald will be resumed when the teams battle for the Worrell-Wescombe trophy, struck in honour of two life-members.

B Grade also met Merinda Park on Saturday. The Maroons reached 113 in the one-day contest. Batting first, Nick Pastras (28) and Glen Kilburn (20) established themselves, while Matt Scanlon (19) and Shane Gittens (16) gave support.
In response the Cobras were 1/37 from only 4.3 overs, smashing the ball to all sections of the oval.

F Grade finalists Upper Beaconsfield and Devon Meadows waged war at Glover Reserve.
Chasing a moderate 196, the Panthers was well on top at 1/114 as the Maroons bowling line-up struggled to make inroads against a strong batting list.
Rain prevented a result but Devon Meadows gained a lot of confidence.

Upper Beaconsfield’s under-17s managed to defeat neighbours Beaconsfield Tigers in a low scoring game. With only 80 runs to win, the Tigers was bundled out for just 60 as Jake Cameron achieved best ever figures of 5/29 from eight overs.

The under-15s accounted for Beaconsfield Blitz comfortably, as the team restricted the neighbours to 115, chasing 4/144.
A solid team performance saw an even spread of the bowling as Ben Milon (2/8) and Lachy Harrison (2/11) were the major wicket takers. Pat Deady, Jack Brown and Taylor Joyce picked up a wicket each.
