Hungry to run

By Casey Neill
HILLS women can pamper themselves in Emerald this weekend to raise cash for a worthy cause.
Two teams from Emerald’s Vibe Health + Fitness will host a ‘girls afternoon in’ to raise $7000 they need to compete in this year’s Melbourne Oxfam Trailwalker.
The 100-kilometre walking event will be held from 16 to 18 April and the money teams have raised will help to support Oxfam’s work of alleviating poverty and suffering in 27 countries.
The ‘girls afternoon in’ will start at 4pm and run to 7pm on 20 February and for a $10 cover charge women can choose a facial, makeover, hand treatment or mini massage.
They can also and enjoy raffles, silent auctions, games and champagne.
“We think it’s a good cause,” team member Kirsten Eakins said.
“The money’s going to a very good cause and it also gives us exercise and it’s fun to get out and walk together.”
They hope to complete the trek from Jells Park, Wheelers Hill to Wesburn Park in the Yarra Valley in less than 20 hours.
“It’s a very ambitious target,” she said.
Vibe Health + Fitness is located at 366 Belgrave-Gembrook Road, Emerald.
Readers can call Miranda Chin on 0409 552 634 for more information about the fundraiser, and visit www.oxfam.org.au/trailwalker/melbourne/team231 or /team232 to make a donation.
