Cooee for Koowee

KOOWEERUP residents once again came out in true force to celebrate Australia Day.
More than 200 people gathered yesterday (Tuesday) morning to acknowledge community members for their hard work and to celebrate the national day.
And it wouldn’t have been a Kooweerup Australia Day without local poet Mal Function, who greeted the crowd with a typical Aussie “G’day”.
Cardinia Shire councillor Stuart Halligan spoke of what Australia Day meant to him and its greater significance when he was serving the country overseas in the mid-1980s.
“It’s great to see young, old and the middle-aged come out to support those who have worked hard in the community,” Cr Halligan said.
