Saddle up for charity

CARDINIA Shire’s biggest charity ride returns this Saturday for the serious lycra legends or your more social cyclists.
The 150-kilometre charity ride, which will begin and end at Chairo Christian School in Pakenham, aims to raise $50,000 for the 4Cs with around 300 riders expected to roll up.
There will also be a shorter, more social 30-kilometre ride again this year, which event organiser Stephen Leach says will provide “the best views you will find anywhere”.
Last year The Slog raised $40,000 for the 4Cs, and has been one of the largest financial contributors to the charity for over a decade.
“$50,000 is a big increase from last year but we are hoping and praying for it,” he said.
“We pride ourselves on being able to help out individuals and families in crisis in this way.”
The ride has grown rapidly over the past five years, increasing the number of riders from 100 to over 400.
There will also be a Family Festival to welcome the riders back into town, running from 11am to 4pm with live bands, kids’ games and entertainment.
The 4Cs needs to raise about $500,000 annually to keep their many services available to those in need, so your support would be appreciated.
Over the past decade, more than 1200 riders and sponsors have helped raise more than $226,000 for the charity.

Held annually, The Slog raises much needed awareness and support for the local charity, the 4Cs Crisis Relief Centre.
