Rees continues his red-hot form

John Curtain won a ball down the line carding a nett 70 at Deep Creek Golf Club on Wednesday.

A red-hot Glenn Rees (12) continued his magnificent form at Deep Creek Golf Club on Saturday winning the A Grade stableford competition with 37 points.

Rees has been at the pointy end of the leaderboard for the last three Saturday competitions…playing some really consistent golf!

In blustery conditions, Rees won A Grade by a shot from Peter Norman (8) on 36 points, with Ross Maclean (15) shooting the round of the day – 38 points – to win B Grade by a shot from John Hutcheon (14). Yvonne Smith (23) has also been in good form of late and scored 37 points to win C Grade on a countback from Terry Bull (29).

Down the lines went to Mark Hatton and Tom Marshall 37, Matthew Hogan, Anthony Mafodda, Frankie Chiu, Matt Lloyd, Graeme Steel, Mark Woodbridge and Chelsie Selleck, Steven Holmes 35, and Harry Elyasie, Graham Brennan and Shirley McGrath on 34 points.

Nearest the pins went to Terry Lovell on the second (1.18m) and to Yvonne Smith on the 16th (1.50m).

The December Midweek Monthly Medal was up for grabs on Wednesday last week and it was Chris Kondarios (20) who was celebrating after carding a 67 nett to win the medal and A Grade.

Runner up in A Grade was Dean Jones (13) on 69 nett, while Alan Borch (27) may have lost the medal via countback, but secured B Grade with a fine score of 67 nett.

Rod Beard (26) was runner up in Brage with a nett 68.

Down the lines on Wednesday went to John Kingman and John Curtin 70, and to Frank Leontini, Ron Seamer, Angie Peluso, David McMahon, Neil Atchison, Geoff Percival, Patrick Duane and Chris Dalton with nett 71’s.

The Supercomp – Back 9 – was won by Frank Leontini (21) with a 31 nett.

Nearest the pins went to Dean Jones on the second (7.00m) and to Kondarios on the 16th (1.67m).

The Ladies hit the course on Thursday for a Par competition at it was Joan Rawson (50) who took home top honours after finishing square with the card.

Down the lines went to Norma Crebbin -2, Yvonne Barrot -2 and Yvonne Smith -3.

Nearest the pins went to Yvonne Smith on the second hole (1.76m) and to Yvonne Barrot on the 16th (9m).

And Leon Mateariki can kiss his 26-handicap goodbye after scoring a whopping 45 points to win Sunday’s stableford competition by an impressive nine shots over Brett Nowlan (15) on 36 points.

Down the lines went to Alex Blanck 35, and to Heath Barclay and Ray Hewitt on 33 points.
