There weren’t many sitting on the edge of their seats during Saturday’s round of netball, with big margins separating the winning and losing sides.
Beaconsfield edged out Cranbourne at home in one of the closer matches of the round.
The Eagles won every quarter to secure the 40-29 win.
Elizabeth Murphy was leading the way on the attacking front, scoring 35 of the 40 goals for the home side.
Emily Kerr was also impressive.
Kristie Bryden was among the best for Cranbourne, but it wasn’t enough for the visiting side to collect the win.
Narre Warren was the biggest of winners, giving Doveton an 83-21 whacking.
Erin Bell scored 44 goals in a brilliant performance.
The Magpies have come up against two fantastic sides in Beaconsfield and the ever so reliable Olinda Ferny Creek, but registered their first win of the season.
In the closest match of the round, Upwey Tecoma gained the win over Pakenham.
The Tigers 39-32 win over the Lions was enough to sneak into the top five at the conclusion of the round, leading Berwick (sixth) by 0.67 per cent.
Olinda Ferny Creek, meanwhile, continued on its merry way, defeating Berwick by a comfortable 17 goals.
Grace Kelly was best on court for the Bloods in the 50-33 win, while Sophie Gembetta was impressive for the losing side.
An Abigail Gedge led Wandin outfit had a spectacular win over fellow hills side, Woori Yallock.
Wandin and Woori Yallock have built a terrific rivalry across the board in recent years, but the Bulldogs proved to be much stronger on the day in the top flight.
When the final whistle was blown, the Dogs had come away with a 62-44 win.
Gedge had a sensational day with 45 goals.
With a game up her sleeve, Jemma Osborne (Narre Warren) currently leads the league sharp shooting award, with 96 goals.
But with her stunning performance on Saturday, Gedge is right on Osborne’s tail, with 95 goals.
DIVISION 1
ROUND 3
Ladder leaders Seville and ROC continued its unbeaten run in the Division 1 Outer East netball competition, both landing big wins.
Seville scintillated Belgrave, winning 77-12.
Olivia Ray was best on court for the Blues, scoring 40 goals in the big win.
Alexis Tucker was also in the best for the undefeated Seville outfit.
ROC, meanwhile, recorded its third successive win, this time over Mount Evelyn.
Emily McInnes was the best for the Roos in the 52-30 win.
For the Rovers, Georgia Marsh was named best on court in the losing side’s cause.
Tarnee Adams had a sensational day out for the Monbulk Hawks, as she drove her side to a big win over Healesville.
Adams scored 46 goals in a busy afternoon.
Emma Hyatt was one of the better players on the court for the losing side.
A special second period ultimately secured the win for Gembrook Cockatoo over Berwick Springs.
The Brookers piled on 15 goals and conceded just three in the second term, setting up the 40-19 win.
Rebecca Christie was in fine form for the home side, while Jessie Hare also worked hard.
While Seville sit comfortably atop of the ladder at the minute, Olivia Ray also sits comfortably atop the league sharp shooting leaderboard.
Ray has scored 116 goals in just three matches, and sits an impressive 26 ahead of second.
