REVIEW – ROUND 17
STATE LEAGUE – DIV 1 SOUTH EAST
Doveton embarrassed neighbouring rival, the Casey Comets in an emphatic 7-1 win on Saturday afternoon at Waratah Reserve.
The Doves – who had five individual goal scorers – were led by a Josh Frame hat-trick.
Leading 3-1 at the half, Doveton ran riot in the final 45 minutes, finding the back of the net four times.
STATE LEAGUE – DIV 2 SOUTH EAST
Berwick City just found a way against North Caufield, winning 2-1 and threatening Peninsula Strikers in fourth place on the table.
Skipper James Neighbour and Keegan Ziada were the scorers for Berwick in what was a strong win away from home.
STATE LEAGUE 5 – SOUTH
Bunyip District edged out local rival Pakenham United, 2-0, to close the gap between the two sides in the bottom end of the standings.
White Star Dandenong and Rosebud drew in a high scoring 3-3 affair, with Chris Parry the only multiple goal scorer for Rosebud with his brace, moving his tally to 11 goals from as many games this year.
Tullamarine’s fast start enabled it to hold on to a 2-1 victory over Hampton Park at KM Reedy Reserve.
Going into the half leading 2-0, Tullamarine held on to secure the win.
An 86th minute goal from Eid Sarwari, meanwhile, secured Endeavour Hills the 2-1 victory over Knox United.
The win keeps the race tight at the top of the standings and drifts Knox from the top five.
Two second-half goals handed the Casey Panthers their 3-1 triumph against Old Mentonians, with Casey captain Jamie Faithful scoring his first goal for the season in the important win.
And Somerville did as it has all year in its 3-1 win against Aspendale.
The Eagles are still sitting two wins clear of second but have played two extra matches over Old Mentonians.
