Upper Beaconsfield Cricket Club continues to evolve and be a pillar in the local community. This was highlighted recently when the Maroons officially completed the injury prevention component of the Healthy Sports Club Project – a first for community clubs in the local area.

The project, initiated by Monash Health and supported by the Shire of Cardinia, City of Casey and City of Greater Dandenong, aims to reinforce clubs commitments to the promotion of health, standardise procedures for dealing with any behaviour that contravenes healthy objectives, set guidelines and clarify the roles and responsibilities of all club members.

By completing the injury prevention component of the program, Upper Beaconsfield Cricket Club had members undertake first aid training, as well as committing to check club helmets after every game, display emergency contact lists and relevant injury prevention posters at the club, create an injury prevention policy and form a partnership with a local physio – Your Body Hub – for assistance with injury prevention.

In a presentation last Monday night (29 April), members from the club joined representatives from Monash Health, Cardinia Shire Council and Your Body Hub to celebrate the work done by the Upper Beaconsfield Cricket Club in becoming a healthier community club.
