BY LACHIE Hansen’s own admission, when he played his first AFL game in 2007 reaching the 100-game milestone was the furthest thing from his mind.
The Nar Nar Goon product looks back now and sees “a pretty skinny kid with a body that probably wasn’t up to the standard”.
But on the eve of his 100th game tomorrow night against Essendon at Etihad Stadium, Hansen has established himself as one of the game’s most valuable defenders.
“Tomorrow night will be pretty special – it’s the season opener for both sides, there’ll be some big milestones, everyone will be watching on TV and there’ll be over 50,000 people there.
“There’ll be plenty for both sides to play for and everyone wants to come out firing.”
Keep an eye on next week’s Pakenham Gazette for more on Hansen’s footy journey so far.
