With the construction industry now closed for two weeks, builders in the area are being urged to ensure their sites are locked up safely after another break in occurred in Officer at the start of this week.

Recently, a number of building sites have been targeted by thieves in the Cardinia Shire and it seems the culprits have struck again, this time on Tivendale Road.

Senior Sergeant Jason Owen from the Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit said that police were currently investigating a shipping container robbery at the Officer building site that occurred in either the late hours of Monday 20 September or very early on Tuesday 21 September.

Snr Srgt Owen said that the thieves had stolen copper piping from the site – which he said was “not unusual” – but a blow to the builders nonetheless.

He encouraged builders to make sure that all their supplies left on site were securely and safely stored away, and urged anyone with information about the crime to get in touch with police on either 5945 2500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
