A woman believed to be in her fifties has been injured in a three car collision on the Cardinia Road ramp, just off the Princes Highway in Officer, causing major delays for outbound traffic this afternoon.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said that paramedics were called out to the crash at about 4pm on Thursday 15 April and were treating a woman, believed to be in her fifties, for a minor chest injury.

The crash has caused major delays for outbound motorists, as the Cardinia Road ramp has been reduced to a single lane.

Andrew Crook from the Victorian Department of Transport said that the three car collision was causing some “pretty hefty hold ups” for outbound motorists and recommended drivers find an alternative route if possible.

“An incident response officer is about to arrive on scene,” Mr Crook said, just before 5pm.

“There are some pretty hefty hold ups as it is a bit of a bottleneck there.”

Police and paramedics are still currently on the scene, managing traffic and tending to those involved.

Mr Crook said a separate incident, which happened earlier on the Monash Freeway, had only added to the amount of traffic heading outbound at the moment and urged drivers to be careful on the roads.

“That exit is just one lane at the moment and there is a lot of traffic heading out of the city,” he said.

Mr Crook was unsure of how long the second lane would be closed on the Cardinia Road ramp, and said it all depended on how long the emergency services would need to clear the road.
