A young veteran is urging his community to dig deep and support the 2021 Anzac Day Appeal.
Emerald RSL sub-branch appeals and welfare officer Chris May admits he might not look like the typical veteran, having completed two tours of Afghanistan at age 19 and 21.
“We want to get younger veterans stepping up to the plate and continuing the legacy of the RSL,” Mr May said.
“Our job as the next generation is to make sure the RSL continues for the next 100 years.”
Emerald RSL members will be selling badges and tin shaking at Emerald Woolworths and IGA in the lead up to Anzac Day.
After a tricky year with Covid-19, Mr May said it was important now more than ever to support the appeal.
“Average Australians and veterans are struggling post-Covid,” he said.
“Emerald RSL is more of a tradition RSL sub-branch. We don’t have pokies to rely on so we need the support from the community to continue.”
