The Tynong community has rallied together to donate essential items to flood relief volunteers in New South Wales.

Tynong CFA support team president Peter Walker coordinated the donation of shovels, gloves, gum boots, large garden bags, leaf scoops, books, hygiene products and teddy bears to Yass SES this week.

“Due to the enormity of all charities in the flood areas, it was thought best to let the experts at SES head quarters do the leg work to the persons affected directly,“ Mr Walker said.

Mr Walker drove the donations up himself.

“We wanted to help the people who were helping people,“ he said.

“It has been a fantastic effort by our little community of Tynong.“

Mr Walker said the Tynong CFA was the centre of the small community.

“We wanted to share our love. We are a tiny town and the CFA is the centre of it,“ he said.

“A huge thank you to Bunnings East Pakenham and everyone involved in donating and also specially hand made donations.“
