A popular playground in Longwarry is set to undergo major upgrade works and the community is invited to share their thoughts on what they would like to see included in the design.

Baw Baw Shire Council is asking community members to share their ideas to help shape the Memorial Park upgrade, which has been selected as part of the 2020/21 Budget process for upgrade works.

The playground upgrade project will be delivered in three stages, with the first stage focused on finding out what the community would like to see included in the designs.

Based on the feedback received from the first stage, the council will present three potential designs to the community for further consideration.

Once a final design has been selected, the works will begin in early to mid-2021.

“This popular playground needs a refresh and we’d like to know what the community would like to see included in the final designs,” Baw Baw Shire Council’s community infrastructure director Cohen Van Der Velde said.

“Whether you live in Longwarry or regularly visit the playground, this is a great opportunity to tell us what kind of equipment and layout would work best.”

The Memorial Park project shares $75,000 with another playground project in the shire, which is part of the council’s $32.2 million budget for infrastructure works in the current financial year.

Interested community members are also encouraged to provide feedback on the draft concept design for the new fenced dog park at Dowton Park in Yarragon.

The $177,000 project will be fully funded through the State Government’s Building Works package, which is providing $2.7 billion towards projects across the state.

Consultation is open now until Sunday 6 December.
