Pakenham man fined for ‘hanging out with mates’

A Pakenham man has been slapped with a hefty fine after breaching the Chief Health Officer’s coronavirus ‘stay at home’ directions.

The man travelled Dandenong overnight on Wednesday 12 August to “hang out with some mates”.

Police sighted him wandering the streets of Dandenong before issuing him with an infringement notice.

Over the past 24 hours across the state, 184 fines have been handed out to individuals breaking the rules.

Those fined include 24 people for failing to wear a face covering when leaving home for one of the four approved reasons, 58 for breaching curfew and 16 at vehicle checkpoints.
