Cardinia cases continue to rise

The number of coronavirus cases in the Cardinia Shire has risen to 11 overnight on Wednesday 15 July.

According to the state’s latest health data, the City of Casey now has 34 active cases, while Baw Baw sits at three.

When Cardinia Shire was declared a Covid-19 hotspot there were only six confirmed cases of the virus – the number of cases has almost doubled since.

The new Cardinia Shire cases include an Officer supermarket worker and a student who attends a school in Beaconsfield.

The Arena Shopping Centre Woolworths employee tested positive for the virus on Tuesday 14 July, while the St Francis Xavier College senior student attended school while infectious on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June.

Across the state, 238 cases were recorded on Wednesday, taking the total number of active cases to 1931.
