Decorate your door

The community is invited to decorate their doors red to support the annual Red Shield Appeal.

With the traditional Red Shield Appeal door knock unable to take place this year due to Covid-19, residents are being called on to decorate their front doors red for the Salvation Army’s digital door knock.

In partnership with property group Mirvac, the Salvation Army launched its ‘decorate your door red’ campaign at the start of June.

Cardinia Shire residents are being encouraged to decorate their doors red, taking a photo and posting to Instagram before 30 June.

The individual or company posting the photo must include the tag @Mirvac_residential and the hashtag #decorateyourdoorred, ensuring the account is set to public.

Participants are also able to post to Facebook while mentioning @mirvacresidential to go into the running to win one of three prizes.

The prizes include a Coco Republic chair valued at $1790, a washing machine and dryer valued at $1790 and a Peter’s of Kensington $4000 gift voucher.

Mirvac will donate to the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal on behalf of every post.

Mirvac Head of Residential, Stuart Penklis, is leading the #decorateyourdoorred campaign by example, decorating his door with the help of his family and posting it to  Facebook and Instagram.

“With financial hardship, isolation and domestic violence all on the rise as a result of Covid-19, the support provided by The Salvation Army is more vital than ever,” Mr Penklis said.

“We are inviting our many thousands of Mirvac customers and all Australians to get involved and show their support visually to raise awareness.

“If I can get decorating, I am sure there are others who will welcome this opportunity to do something creative for good.”
