Victoria Police is on the hunt for Harry Potter and Woody impersonators following an attempted burglary in Emerald.
It’s understood two unknown men arrived at a shop in Emerald on Monday 3 February in a stolen grey Mercedes sedan which displayed fake plates with the registration ATX-214.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen from Templestowe in another burglary.
The men were seen looking through the window of the store before returning a short time later in the same vehicle.
It’s alleged the offenders attempted to forcefully enter through the front door, using jemmy bars which caused damage to the door.
Both offenders are believed to be Caucasian men.
The first offender was wearing a “Woody” costume with a black cap and the second offender was wearing a “Harry Potter” costume with grey tracksuit pants and a wand.
On their return, the man disguised as Harry Potter removed his costume and was wearing grey tracksuit pants with blue stripes and a blue hoody.
Police are hoping the public can assist by providing details on whether a costume party was held within the Emerald area earlier this month.
Any information should be directed through to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
