It’s not often you find five generations in one family.
Anne Purcell, 96 years young, was elated when her great grand-daughter Elizabeth brought baby Scarlett into the tight-knit family.
Anne’s family tree is vast, including two children of her own, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, but it is the most recent great-great-grandchild Scarlett who completes the five generations – for now.
Ms Purcell, who has resided in the area for over 35 years, may be 96 years old but she is still going strong. Family is everything and even though Ms Purcell is now in residential care, her daughter Kathleen, granddaughter Gail, great-granddaughter Elizabeth and great-great-granddaughter Scarlett are regular visitors.
Ms Purcell’s mother passed away only a few months shy of her 100th birthday, and her family is fairly certain Ms Purcell will reach or surpass that milestone.
They say it’s thanks to her good genes and to the efforts of her daughter and carer, Kathleen, who is always by her side.
The family believes their closeness, love and positive attitude has enabled Ms Purcell’s longevity, and are proud to be able to celebrate their five living generations.
