Fishing television personalities Rex Hunt and Lee Rayner will head to Pakenham Lake to lure and hook the young and old by providing expert tips and entertaining tales.

VicFishKids ambassadors say the event is an opportunity for kids who are curious about fishing to give it a go in a safe and supportive environment.

Local angling clubs, Fishcare volunteers and Fisheries staff will lead the free fishing clinics with everything provided to teach the youngsters how to cast and tie knots.

Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale said the VicFishKids series is funded by the state government’s $35 million Target One Million plan.

“Our VicFishKids events have something for everyone including a kids’ activities area and a photo booth to immortalise that fish of a lifetime,” Ms Crugnale said.

“Target One Million is encouraging our next generation of recreational fishers with free events where kids can come and wet a line with help from fishing experts.”

The free event will take place at Pakenham Lake on Sunday 15 September from 10am until 4pm.
