Pakenham woman wins $20k live on TV

A Pakenham woman kicked off the week $20,000 richer after answering the Sunrise Cash Cow call on Monday morning.

After 20-odd years of entering the cash giveaway, Ros Power finally got lucky.

The loyal participant said the win would make her “life a bit easier” as she cares for her daughter who has Down syndrome.

“My husband passed away eight years ago so I’ve been raising my daughter on my own,” Ms Power said.

“Her and I have been taking it in turns of whose name goes down when entering the competition and so when I told her I’d won she asked me why it wasn’t her.

“You always hear of these things happening but never think it will happen to you. My daughter and I will be going on a big holiday.”

Ironically, at the time Ms Power received the phone call from Sunrise, she was typing a text message to enter the next competition.

“The phone call came through and luckily I accepted it,” she said.

“I didn’t believe it so while I was still on the phone I turned the television on and saw my name.

“The phone hasn’t stopped ringing all day. When it finally sunk in I said to myself ‘oh my lord’. It really was meant to be.”

The lucky lady’s days of entering the Sunrise Cash Cow competition have come to an end.

“I’ve had my luck now. I don’t think lightning strikes in the same place twice.”
