Age-friendly community

Cardinia Shire Council is reminding residents to share their ideas for the development of the Ageing Well Strategy 2019–24 before consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 22 April.

An age-friendly community is one in which older people are given opportunities to:

– be healthy and active

– stay socially connected

– participate fully in society.

Cardinia Shire Deputy Mayor Councillor Collin Ross encouraged residents of all ages to participate in the consultation.

“The five-year strategy will be a roadmap to supporting the wellbeing of Cardinia Shire’s ageing community,” he said.

“We all know and care for someone in our community that will benefit from this strategy, so I encourage everyone to share their ideas for making our shire more age-friendly.

“We have facilitated a number of interactive community sessions to hear your ideas and experiences as we work to create an age-friendly community. If you weren’t able to make to one of these sessions, you can still have your say online at council’s website.”
