A multicultural hub will be built in Pakenham following $350,000 granted by the Liberals Nationals Government.

Member for Latrobe Jason Wood made the funding announcement on Thursday.

“The Liberals Nationals Government is delivering local infrastructure that our communities expect and deserve,” Mr Wood said.

“I am proud to deliver this important funding for the multicultural hub design and planning phase because it will benefit multicultural communities.”

Programs at the multicultural hub will include information sessions for migrants before and after their arrival to prepare them for a new life, activities for individuals and community groups and women and youth support networks.

Features of the hub include a central meeting space with new commercial groups and not for profit organisations, disability access and place of worship.

“I’m proud to have fought for this project and am proud to be seeing it through to fruition,” he added.

While the Commonwealth Government is investing in project, the Cardinia Council will be managing the delivery of this project.
