Teens charged following Pakenham train assault

Detectives at the Transit Crime Investigation Unit have arrested seven teenagers following an assault of a 23-year-old Clayton woman on a Pakenham train on 10 March.

The woman was travelling on a south bound train when she was accosted by a group of youths around 5am.

A verbal altercation took place between the woman and the group of teenagers on the train which allegedly resulted in the woman being assaulted by the group.

The woman dropped her purse during the assault and it is alleged a male picked up the purse and stole it.

The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 19-year-old man from Pakenham has been charged with theft, handle stolen goods and obtain property by deception.

He has been bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 7 June.

A 16-year-old girl from Pakenham has been charged with recklessly cause injury, affray and unlawful assault.

She has been bailed to attend a children’s court at a later date.

She has been bailed to attend children’s court at a later date.

A 16-year-old girl from Cranbourne East has been charged with recklessly cause injury, affray and assault by kicking.

She has been bailed to attend a children’s court at a later date.

Two 16-year old girls and a 15-year-old girl from Cranbourne East, Keysborough and Springvale respectively have also been questioned in relation to the matter. They were released pending further enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.
