Lakeside Residents Group is coordinating a fire relief fundraiser to be held at Coles in Pakenham on Saturday March 23.

The group are hoping that all food is donated so 100 percent of the proceeds can go to the Casey Cardinia Foundation (CCF) bushfire relief fund.

“The Lakeside Residents Group were supported by CCF for the Australia Day event and feel that it is a reputable organisation,” Lakeside Residents Group president Wendy Andrews said.

“CCF was the first to setup a fund for the Bunyip bushfire victims.

“Whilst we were willing to help setup a system to help out during the fires, the authorities I spoke to all said that they had systems in place to look after the firefighters and displaced people.”

By running this fundraiser, the group will be able to give the funds directly to those affected.

“We are also trying to coordinate sausage sizzles at some of the schools at the same time through some of our community groups using their school parents groups,” Ms Andrews said.

“I would like to aim for $10,000 through all of these efforts.”
