With the “great Australian dream” of home ownership slipping further and further from reach, many have turned to a new, adventurous lifestyle.

Leading the trope is Officer’s Sutic family, who last year sold their home to embark on the trip of a lifetime.

Rather than work, pay bills and wrestle with the mortgage, Mr and Mrs Sutic purchased a caravan – inspired to discover more of Australia with their children Tilly, 4 and Mila, 2.

They join a growing number of domestic tourists choosing to travel locally, as highlighted by recent figures released by Tourism Research Australia.

Mr and Mrs Sutic made the decision, and haven’t looked back since.

The Sutic family has just passed through South Australia and is on track to complete a lap of Australia by the end of 2019.

“Last year we decided to just do it – we sold everything and bought a caravan,” Mrs Sutic said.

“People don’t realise what beautiful places we have right on our doorstep – you just have to go out and discover them.

“The kids are absolutely loving the adventure, especially the trips to the beach – we’ve already booked in to finish up our lap at Broulee just in time for Christmas.”

They have been travelling to Ingenia Holidays Broulee, New South Wales each year for their annual vacation.

Broulee seemed to be a fitting place for the family to conclude their journey.

Ingenia Holidays Brand and Experience Manager Christopher Stokoe said it was a wonderful initative.

“At Ingenia Holidays it’s our goal is to accommodate the whole family and create long lasting memories,” Mr Stokoe said.

“We’re so pleased that families like the Sutic family keep coming back each year – and have even chosen it as their start and finish home base for their great Australian adventure.”
