On Saturday 6 October, local CFA brigades came together at Bunnings, Pakenham to exhibit their trucks and demonstrate their skills while giving out pre-summer information to the community.

“The Dandenong Bronto was a huge success along with the old fire truck from Melbourne Fire Museum,” CFA Admin Officer Lisa Hicks said.

“Families from all over Cardinia were delighted with the activities for the children to take part in while the parents spoke to the CFA members.

“It was important to get the community to understand the importance of getting their properties ready for the upcoming fire season, get their plans in place – whether to stay or go and know where to find information on high risk days.”

The event brought together many of the smaller community brigades, including Toomuc, Maryknoll and Pakenham Upper.

“It was an opportunity to have a chat and even encourage some new future fire fighters.

“CFA would like to thank all the volunteers that gave up their time on such a beautiful day, to help spread our messages for this summer. To all the residents of Cardinia stay safe and be aware.”
