A total of 25 students between the ages on 10-17 from the Masquerade Talent Studio have been offered the opportunity of a lifetime to spend a weekend celebrating young people in musical theatre.
From 27 to 28 October these Pakenham and Berwick students will meet performers with mutual passions from all around Australia whilst participating in workshops as part of The Junior Theatre Celebration Australia (JTCOz), which is held in Newcastle, NSW.
A few of the students are also auditioning for the potential opportunity to attend the JTC in America in the year 2020, as well as the selection of three students to participate in a workshop launch of Sister Act Junior, which is a week long program.
“Performers are looking forward to performing on stage with a performance from Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr. Some are going on a plane for the very first time, so that’s pretty exciting too!” Studio Director Carmen Powell said.
“It’s a big task to get so many young people interstate, but we’re supported by amazing families who have volunteered as chaperones and organised fundraising events.”
Masquerade Talent Studio opened in Berwick 17 years ago, off the back of Studio Director Carmen Powell and Megan Glenwright’s ambition to provide local performers with musical theatre facilities.
“It’s fantastic that there is so much more available now, and this Junior Theatre Celebration is just so wonderful to bring young people together and enjoy a weekend of workshops, performances and fun.”
