Cultural Centre theft leads to arrest

By Rowan Forster

Police have arrested a thief who stole a haul of electronics from the Cardinia Cultural Centre during a brazen daylight robbery last month.

Public information led officers to the home of a 34-year-old Bairnsdale man on Friday morning, who was subsequently charged with burglary and theft.

It is alleged between 3.30 and 4.30pm on 15 July, the offender walked into the Lakeside Boulevard facility and left with the equipment.

He was captured on CCTV, which facilitated his arrest, more than one month later.

He will appear before Dandenong Magistrates Court at a later date.
