This year’s Upper Beaconsfield Village Festival has been described by organisers as the most successful to date.
The annual community event, held over the weekend on Sunday 18 February, attracted record numbers, with organisers estimated at least 3000 people attending during the course of the day.
“It was our largest festival by far,” committee member Michelle Greenshields said.
“The sun was shining and there were lots and lots of stallholders with really good food. By 1.30pm some had almost sold out.”
The revamp of the festival’s iconic fun run was given a big thumbs up by participants, while the annual art exhibition saw artist numbers rise from 86 last year to 190.
Ms Greenshields said a great day was had by all.
The community event stemmed from the devastating February 2009 bushfires and has since become an annual celebration of community spirit.
