Each year, students from the Pakenham Campus of Chairo Christian School embark on a week-long tour of Cardinia Shire, delighting people of all ages with their music and singing.
The school’s symphonic wind band, concert band, jazz band, senior school choir, middle school choir, cantabile choir, and presto and allegro string orchestras all performed recently at local primary schools, retirement villages, lakes, parks and shopping centres.
“In addition to providing wonderful entertainment, a key aim of the tour is for the students to deliver educational presentations,” Head of Music Kim Thomsen explained.
“They also benefit from valuable experiences in a variety of performance settings, where they are required to problem-solve, work as a team, develop team skills, build resilience, and cope with the pressures and demands of touring and performing.”
While the tour was exhausting, the students certainly rose to the occasion and had a thrilling time participating in the concerts and performances throughout the week.
Their appearances were well-received by community members and they are already looking forward to next year’s music tour.
