There were approximately 950 export and 650 young cattle penned representing an increase of 770 head week-on-week at Pakenham’s Victorian Livestock Exchange.
There was a full field of buyers present and operating in a firm export sale and a cheaper trade offering with buyers being a lot more selective.
Quality was good with a larger and better selection of prime cattle in all classes.
Vealers suited to butchers slipped 15 cents to 20 cents.
Yearling trade cattle eased around 10 cents for most. More young cattle were secured by feedlots and re-stockers.
Grown steers and bullocks sold firm. Heavy weight grown heifers improved by nine cents, heavy weight Friesian manufacturing steers eased four cents while the crossbred portion held firm.
Vealers suited to butchers sold from 273 cents to 318 cents, yearling trade steers made between 265 cents and 303 cents.
Yearling heifers to the trade sold between 246 cents and 278 cents, and feeder steers made from 263 cents to 310 cents.
