The CFA has announced that fire restrictions will come into effect across Cardinia Shire at 1am on Monday 18 December.
From this date, fires cannot be lit in the open air unless a permit has been obtained.
It is an offence to light a fire without a permit from this date.
Anyone conducting a burn-off must also obtain a permit and contact ESTA to ensure firefighters aren’t called out unnecessarily.
Residents burning off before the Fire Danger Period must check the council requirements in their local area first and ensure that it is not a windy day.
Prior to burning, they should register the fire with the CFA on 1800 668 511.
