Three… ways to beat the heat this summer

1.Cardinia Shire outdoor pools. Pakenham Outdoor Pool, Emerald Lake Park Wading Pool, Kooweerup Swimming Pool and Garfield Swimming Pool are open during November to March. Be sure to check out http://cardinialeisure.com.au/ or the Cardinia Outdoor Pools Facebook pages prior to attending to ensure the facilities are open. Trading hours depend on the time of week and forecasted weather temperature.

2.Not feeling like a dip? Head to the air-conditioned comfort of the Pakenham Library. Along with an extensive array of books, the library hosts regular social and creative activities at no or low cost and also offers computer and internet access. The perfect place to take shelter from the sun.

3.For a more targeted approach to cooling down, try running cold water on your wrists for up to 30 seconds each. Research says this will actively lower the temperature of the blood in the arms, which will then recirculate into the body’s larger bloodstream and cool the body down for up to an hour. This depends on how hot it is outside, of course.
